When a customer buys something from your store, two emails go out automatically — one to you, and one to your customer. You don’t need to do anything to make this happen.
Your orders email address
During setup we agreed on a dedicated email address just for orders. This keeps your order notifications separate from your general inbox so nothing gets missed. Your orders email address is in your personal pack.
The email you receive
When a customer places an order you’ll receive an email with the subject line “New order: #[order number]”. It will contain:
- The customer’s name and delivery address
- The item(s) they’ve ordered
- The quantity of each item
- The order total
- The payment method used
This is everything you need to pick, pack and post the order.
The email your customer receives
Your customer will automatically receive an order confirmation email with the subject line “Order received”. It will contain:
- Their order number
- A summary of what they’ve ordered
- The delivery address they entered
- The total they paid
They receive this instantly after placing their order. You don’t need to send anything manually.
Other emails your store sends automatically
WooCommerce handles a few other order-related emails without any input from you:
- Order cancelled — sent to you if an order is cancelled
- Order failed — sent to you and the customer if a payment fails
- Order refunded — sent to the customer when a refund is issued
Custom email templates
The emails your store sends use a standard layout. If you’d like something more tailored to your brand — your logo, your colours, your tone of voice — this is something we can discuss as additional work. It is not included in the standard subscription.
